9th Asia / Oceania Congress of Geriatrics and Gerontology

23-27 October 2011
Melbourne, Australia

Every four years, the Asia / Oceania Region of the International Association of Gerontology and Geriatrics coordinates a major conference to highlight the latest developments in the area of ageing. In 2011, the Australian Association of Gerontology, in collaboration with the New Zealand Association of Gerontology, is hosting the 9th Asia / Oceania Congress of Geriatrics and Gerontology in Melbourne, Australia, from October 23-27.

Conference Theme:

The conference theme is “Ageing well together: Regional perspectives”. It integrates the broad perspectives of ageing well from our diverse region, focusing on the key areas of health, function, psychological, social and spiritual well-being. Critically, as these ageing issues affect everyone - family, friends, the broader community and those working in the area – the different approaches, discussions and learnings from the conference will inspire us to reflect on our own current practices and systems.

This conference draws together a diverse range of researchers, practitioners, service providers, policy and planning representatives, educators and others working in all areas of ageing, to discuss the latest findings in the field of ageing.

The broad scope of the conference is reflected by the four main themes – clinical medicine, biological sciences, social and behavioral sciences, and social research and planning. Invited keynotes from within and outside the Asia / Oceania Region, as well as symposia, papers, and posters of the latest advances will be presented, along with pre and post conference workshops on specific issues.

In addition to a first class scientific program, an exciting social program is planned to maximise your experience in Melbourne. Pre and post conference tours around Victoria, other parts of Australia, and New Zealand will be available to ensure your trip to the conference is both intellectually and socially stimulating.
