George Weeks MRTPI, MCIHT - Chartered Town Planner and Urban Designer
George’s work reflects his lifelong interest in the relationship between transport, urban development, health and liveability. Since 2021 George has been a Principal Urban Designer at Kāinga Ora, where he focusses on transport-land use integration. He is the co-lead on sustainable transport and the lead author of Masterplanning for Universal Design. Previously based in the Auckland Council Urban Design Unit, George led the 2020 Auckland City Centre Masterplan refresh. He also contributed to Auckland Council’s prizewinning work to develop a business case for walking, and worked closely with Auckland Transport to develop the Roads and Streets Framework. An alumnus of the King’s Foundation for the Built Environment, George worked five years (2011-16) as an Urban Designer at Transport for London. George has guest-lectured at Victoria University of Wellington and is a Professional Teaching Fellow at the University of Auckland.
Vivian Naylor MNZM, BSc - Barrier Free Advisor & Educator at CCS Disability Action
Vivian is an ardent advocate of Universal Design - ensuring a safe and inclusive built environment for everyone. A founding Trustee of the Barrier Free NZ Trust, Vivian presents workshops on Universal Access and Design to a variety of recipients. Since 1999, Vivian has provided advice to Councils, mainly in the Auckland region, on countless major infrastructure projects. She is also the ‘go to’ person on accessible design for many Auckland architects and others in the building industry, advising on architectural plans to assist in the Building Consent process. Vivian was a member of the now disbanded Access Advisory Panel of the former Department of Building and Housing, plus MBIE’s Access Reference Group and Fire Safety review. An advisor on Auckland Council’s Urban Design Panel & member of Auckland Transport’s Public Transport and Capital Projects Accessibility Group, in 2024 Vivian was awarded a MNZM for her services to people with disabilities.
Bridget Doran PhD, CMEngNZ - Transport Engineer, Researcher & Advocate
Bridget is a transportation engineer and researcher, working as an independent consultant in Hamilton. She works on a broad range of design, planning, policy and research projects for public and private sector clients. Bridget grounds her work in an awareness of the biophysical limits of the earth. Her practice focuses on inclusion of, and compassion for the human at the heart of transport investment decisions. Bridget has degrees in civil and transportation engineering, and a doctorate in applied cognitive psychology. She is a Chartered Member of Engineering New Zealand.
